Zoned Heating from SystemLink

About Zoned Heating

In a Nutshell: Zoned heating technology permits users to set various areas around their house or office at separate temperatures as opposed to one, overall temperature. The concept itself has been around for some time but in the past technicians, plumbers and specifiers have shyed away from using it because of the unreliability of motorised valves which were used in traditional systems.

Zoned Heating Systems vs. Conventional Heating Systems
Depending on the type of building, natural ambient temperatures tend to vary from room to room - meaning that generally speaking, upstairs will be warmer than downstairs and spaces with large windows will heat up quicker than the rest of the building in summer and cool down quicker in winter (taking into account the level of insulation installed).

A Conventional Heating System will attempt to heat the entire building at one uniform temperature where in fact, natural ambient temperatures will differ on a room per room basis and all rooms may not be in use at all times - this generally leads to:
  • Overheating in rooms where the natural ambient temperature tends to be hotter. For example: upstairs areas, attics, conservatories (in summer) etc.
  • Insufficient heating in rooms with cooler ambient temperatures. For example: converted cellars, rooms with smaller windows (in winter), rooms adjacent to the north facing wall etc.
  • Heat wastage – when say, only the downstairs area is in active use and the upstairs area is being heated as well.
A Zoned Heating System will resolve these issues by dividing a house or office up into various zones. Each zone can be set to operate at a different temperature, independent from other zones in the same building. It's a simple concept really, but like a lot of other simple concepts, very powerful. A properly zoned system can easily save users up to 30% off their heating bills, is extremely versatile to use and is fully compatible with all kinds of heating systems such as hydronic & electric underfloor, air circulation and radiators. Regardless of the heat source, whether it's a Geothermal heat pump, a Solar panel, a Pellet boiler or a Condensing gas boiler, zoned heating systems will provide users with comfort, energy efficiency and the opportunity to save considerable amounts of money.

The Quick-Fit Solution to Zoned Heating

SystemLink provides a range of Zoned Heating solutions which have been designed on a plug-and-play basis, enabling easy, super-fast installation of complex systems and effectively eliminating the days of long, tedious installations. To help you navigate our products - here's a quick guide:

SYSTEMLINK:
The SystemLink is a pre-wired unit which contains:
  • a SystemLex OR Minilex (depending on the size of the heating system)
  • a SystemZone
Designed to to function at the very heart of a zoned heating system, the SystemLink is a pre-wired, pre-configured and all-inclusive wiring control centre. For more information, please see the "Related Sections in this Category" link-set below.

SYSTEMZONE:
The SystemZone is the distribution manifold. The device is a key component in any zoned heatings. These devices are key-components in any zoned heating system. Available separately as well as pre-packaged in the SystemLink unit, this product can be ordered in a range of sizes to suit the scale of the building.
See related section

SYSTEMLEX & MINILEX:
Two wiring centres which will shorten conventional installation time by miles. The main difference between them is their size and the number of zones & boilers that each wiring centre can handle at the one time. Available pre-packaged inside the SystemLink unit, the SystemLex is also available separately. For more information, please see the "Related Sections in this Category" link-set below.
